Coding Resources

Inpatient coding professionals review and assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to inpatient hospital records. Outpatient/physician coding professionals review and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT®/HCPCS codes to outpatient hospital and physician office records.

The assignment of codes is based on provider and clinician documentation. It is vital the codes assigned by the coding professional are accurate and reflect the condition(s) of the patient and the procedures performed during the hospital stay or encounter. This data is used for many purposes including reimbursement and quality and population health reporting.
